FACEBOOK PAGE INSIGHTS

Each week, over 70 million businesses around the world use Facebook Pages to build their online presence and connect with their customers. Yet to most business owners, marketing their business can be a challenge. They have limited time, and are unsure what actions they can take to drive real results. The Page Insights team seeks to help solve these problems by empowering businesses to make the right decisions through relevant, understandable, and actionable insights.

PROCESS

In 2017 there was an opportunity to redesign our mobile experience and address some core people problems. First, people didn’t know what to do with all the data presented to them, or whether they were doing well. “It’s all just numbers,” as one business owner told us in research. We redesigned the experience to not only be more understandable, but also actionable. In the redesign, users can compare the performance of different posts to see how they’re doing. Our recommended actions section guides admins on what they could do to get better results.

Business owners are busy running their business, and don’t have a lot of time to analyze how they’re doing. We designed the new experience to be easily scannable, with vital metrics front and center, and metrics that are organized in an understandable way. We provided more relevant insights for businesses, including insights about their posts, ads, stories, messages, as well as audience demographic breakdowns, and tips for composing new content. Along the way, I created visual components that are now shared across other Facebook Insights products.

RESULT

The new mobile redesign launched in Q1 2018. While I’m unable to divulge post-launch metrics, the reception from admins during research has been overwhelmingly positive.
